Back then, Lineage II wasn’t just a game. It was the place we met every night.
There was no Discord. There were no guides for everything. Nobody was in a hurry to reach endgame in two days. You logged in, and the adventure began.
Endless hours for a single level. Sitting in town, looking for a party. Running from zone to zone because even the Adena for a teleport was worth something. Spoil. Craft. Soulshots. Materials. Nothing came easy, and that is exactly why it all meant more.
Do you remember?
Dion. Giran packed with people. The first time you saw someone wearing an armor set you could only dream of. And above all, waiting for your friends to log in:
“Where are you?”
“Giran.”
“Wait for me, I’m coming.”
And you waited. Because back then you didn’t log in just to play. You logged in for the company.
Clan wars and Sunday sieges
Clan wars weren’t just another round of PvP. A clan’s name meant something. Alliances meant something. Feuds lasted for months. When Sunday’s castle siege came, the whole week had been leading up to those two hours: hundreds of players outside the castle, frame rates disappearing, TeamSpeak on fire. Nobody cared, because we were all there.
We had memories
We didn’t have today’s graphics. We didn’t have fast progression. Nothing was handed to us. But we had something that is much harder to find today: memories.
More than twenty years later, we still remember the music, the towns, the mobs, the clans, the sieges, our friends, and even our enemies. There are nicknames we haven’t seen online in fifteen years that we still remember.
Maybe we didn’t realise it then, but we were living through one of the best eras of gaming. That is exactly what we want to bring back. Not just another Lineage II server, but the feeling of logging in and knowing a whole world was waiting for you.
